Athens YWCO Camp is a special place!

Without a doubt, the Athens YWCO Camp is a special place. It’s a place where young ladies can be themselves, can laugh, can giggle, can be silly and can find themselves without parents saying no, but with supervision. It’s a place to have fun without television, video games, or iPods. The impact that Y Camp has is a lifelong influence that doesn’t leave a week after camp is over. The friends made there and the experiences shared with others are forever.

Truly a wonderful place!

Our daughters have been campers at Athens YWCO Camp for Girls for several years; our older daughter will be camping for her sixth season this summer. Each daughter went for her first session when she was six. The wonderful thing about this camp is that girls can be girls. They get away from the pressures of elementary and middle school and enjoy themselves.

My older daughter will be attending horse camp again this year. The two weeks she spent last summer really improved her riding. The barn facilities are top-notch, and safety is appropriately stressed.  My younger daughter enjoys the activities, especially art. They both talk about the Gutter Sundae all year long!

Our entire family believes that Athens YWCO really is
“a wonderful place!”.

This is my camp home!

I love it here!  Canoeing is my favorite activity.  I get to meet all kinds of cool people from all over the world.  The food is AMAZING – Ms. Catherine and Ms. Evelyn are the best cooks ever!  I have camped here for 8 years and started when I was only 6! I’m always so excited to get to see my camp friends again year after year.  I start the count down to camp the day after I get home from camp!  I can’t imagine going anywhere else!

Camp is a Family Tradition!

I LOVE this camp!  This will be my 9th year – I can’t wait to get a leaf on the Amy Tree next year (a tree that commemorates 10 years at camp)!  My CIT I year was so awesome and I am so excited to get to be a CIT II in the cabin with the younger kids this year.  My sister and I are 3rd generation Athens YWCO-Campers, so there is a lot of camp tradition in our family.  This the best camp in the world!!

Proud to Be a Part of This Camp!

I was an Athens YWCO camper at ‘old camp’ in Athens when it was called the Jennie Arnold Edwards Camp.  I was so happy to find it again after they moved to Clarkesville – it was like finding a long, lost old friend.  I could not wait for my girls to be old enough to experience all of the great camp fun that I did when I was young.  Many of the old traditions are still strong today and I tear up every time I hear the songs that I used to sing as a camper.  I am so proud to be a part of this camp today; serving on the Board, working as Camp Mom during camp (that’s one of my favorites!!), and being a part of this wonderful camp that cultivates strong, beautiful, and independent young ladies.  This TRULY is a wonderful place!
