Camp’s Impact on Children

Camp represents a place where a child strives for self-satisfaction instead of reward. It is a place that provides a truly enriching experience that cannot be duplicated in any other environment.

In current culture, the outdoors is something not emphasized enough as an important part of a child’s development. Many children spend all day inside on computers, playing video games, and attached to their cell phones. It is imperative that young girls spend time learning to appreciate the outdoors. The time they spend at Athens YWCO Camp for Girls can lead to a lifetime of love for nature and the outdoors.

Living in a group environment in the cabin gives campers a sense of independence that comes in handy in many future endeavors, including being a resident in college dorms. Camp also gives girls the experience of interacting with girls outside their community, even from as far as Europe and Australia, allowing campers the opportunity for personal growth.

The following are articles from the American Camp Association that highlight the impact camp can have on children.
