Overview |
With the rolling North Georgia mountains providing the back drop, the Athens YWCO Camp for Girls provides a unique camping experience that is steeped in tradition and is a place where girls can learn leadership, responsibility and independence – while having fun. With over 80 years of experience in the camping business, the Athens YWCO Camp offers a rich summer program for girls between the ages of 6 and 16. The programs offered include sports, canoeing, swimming, arts, hiking, horseback riding instruction and environmental education opportunities. |
Location |
The camp is located on 150 acres in the North Georgia Mountains near the Chattahoochee National Forest. Gently rolling terrain, wooded trails, a 15-acre lake and warm days and cool nights add up to one of the best camp locations in all of Georgia. |

Provide a quality residential camping program for girls that present them with opportunities to become more independent and grow spiritually, emotionally and socially. |
History |
For almost 85 years, the Athens YWCO Camp for Girls has been making a positive difference in the lives of thousands of young girls. Originally located in Athens, Georgia and named Jennie Arnold Edwards, the camp opened its doors in 1925. In 1987, the camp changed its name and moved to its current location in the North Georgia Mountains. The camp is owned and operated by the Young Women’s Christian Organization (YWCO) of Athens, Georgia. |
